Studying at Shrewsbury?

If you are student studying at Shrewsbury it is now even easier to avoid paying fines for books which are difficult to return. All Keele stock can be now requested via Shrewsbury Hospital Library and returned there too! No fines will accrue for the in-transit period, even if an item has been recalled! The Health Library can also accept returned items from the Shrewsbury collection, though it is best to return them prior to the end of placement. Remember to have items back at either Library before their due back date, as you will be liable to fines due on late returns.

Improving computer access

UHNS has now installed 5 computers in the Health Library IT suite which operate on the Trust intranet. This should provide more reliable access to the Trust network. Unfortunately a Trust login is required to access these computers, and library staff can no longer log people on. Any student seeking access to Trust policies and procedures should request access or a copy from their placement supervisor. No printers attached to any of the NHS networked computers.

Neurosurgery online

NHS staff can now once again access Neurosurgery full text online. Intermittent access to the journal has been caused by the conflicting nature of the joint library set up. Some technical problems are still apparent and full text is still not available to NHS Athens users logged into a Keele networked computer. Neurosurgery can be accessed by visiting the NHS A-Z list and logging in under the NHS Athens account.

The Clinics series

The clinics series are a collection of journals which focus on a very specific topic every issue. In many ways they act as mini books, where general interest lies in the collection and not just a single article. Through popular request we have now made it possible to borrow these journals as standard loans. Titles include: * Radiologic clinics of North America * Surgical clinics of North America * Medical clinics of North America * Otolaryngologic clinics of North America * Clinics in plastic surgery * Dermatologic clinics * Nursing clinics of North America * Obstetrics & gynecology clinics of North America * Orthopedic clinics of North America * Pediatric clinics of North America * Urologic clinics of North America * Gastroenterology clinics of North America Due to the fragile nature of journals, the difficulty in replacing lost issues and the agreement to provide inter-library requests for neighbouring services, there is no plan i
