Royal Society of Medicine eJournals

The access route for the ejournals available from the Royal Society of Medicine has changed. The full-text is now available to our NHS users via your Athens username / password. This covers the following titles: Clinical Risk Health Services Management Research Journal of Medical Screening Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine These titles are now available to NHS users at UHNS, Combined Healthcare, North Staffs PCT and Stoke-on-Trent PCT. Please see the entry on the NHS My Journals list for details. You can access the NHS My Journals list using your Athens username and password.

Radiology eJournal

The access route for the ejournal Radiology has changed. The full-text is now available to our UHNS NHS users via a username and password. Please see the entry on the NHS My Journals list for details. You can access the NHS My Journals list using your Athens username and password.

NHS Evidence Guides

New online guides are available from NHS Evidence to help you to use the NHS Evidence search engine and the NHS Evidence Healthcare Databases Advanced Search (HDAS) . You can find links to the guides on the Databases page of our Online Tutorials section

NHS eJournal Updates

I am currently reviewing the access routes for NHS eJournals in order to move more access to Athens or username/password, where possible, and away from network-only (IP) access. This will require some entries on the NHS MyJournals list to be amended which may take sometime. The changes should result in more flexible access to e-content for our users. If you experience any problems accessing any of our NHS eJournals during this time please inform me – the eResources Librarian . Your patience is appreciated.

Training Dates for July-Sept 2011

The new schedule of training courses held at the Health Library is now available. You can sign-up to learn about: Health Information on the Internet Literature Searching using Databases Cochrane Library Critical Appraisal Refworks These courses are available free to our NHS users and Keele staff and students. SCIE Athens service for social care

Social care workers are reminded that they can apply for a SCIE (Social Care Institute for Education) Athens username. This will help you to access Social Care Online Full-text for journal articles subscribed to by SCIE Databases such as CINAHL and PsychInfo eBooks Access is available via your SCIE Athens username from any computer whether at home or work. Please see the SCIE Athens website for more details, how to register and a  full list of resources available.

NHS Brain Access

You can now access the journal Brain online using your Athens username and password. This is applicable for NHS organisations: University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS North Staffordshire NHS Stoke-on-Trent North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust To logon, click the “log in” link on the publisher’s page and follow the Athens links until you are asked for your Athens username and password. You can also access the journal via the Journals list – see our Journals page for more details.

Annual Recall of Books

All library books subject to the annual recall must be returned by the 10th June. You may renew your books for the next academic year, but if you wish to do this the books must be returned on the library system first. Internet or telephone renewals are not allowed. You may access your own record via the library system
