Incorrect notes on NHS Journals List

Incorrect notes about access are appearing on the ejournal entries on the NHS Evidence My Journals list. The error has been reported and we hope a correction will be available soon. The note refers to access via IP address only however many of the titles where the note is appearing are accessible via NHS Athens such as the main platforms like Wiley and Springer. Apologies for any confusion caused.

More journal access moves online for NHS users

Cancer Talk Week 2012 - Related Health Library Resources

From January 23rd-29th Macmillan Cancer Support will be promoting an event to get people talking about cancer. Many people find it hard to talk to their family about the emotional effects of cancer, but this support can be vital in helping fight the disease.  And it’s not just families that can help. There are experts, doctors and a whole community of people online going through the same thing there to listen. Cancer Talk Week aims to highlight these available resources and offer patients and their loved ones the support they need. For anyone studying cancer and its effects, the Health Library offers numerous resources related to the subject. More Journals now accessible online for UHNS Athens Users

UHNS staff can now access: American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Gastroenterology Pain Tuberculosis online using your NHS Athens username and password. These titles are available via the Elsevier ScienceDirect database. To find our subscribed journal titles go to the NHS My Journals link from our journals page http://www.keele.ac.uk/healthlibrary/find/journals/ , and login with your NHS Athens username.

More CASH available

CASH – the current awareness service for health – have made their news feeds easily available via a netvibes portal Here you can find access to news and latest research across a range of topics. CASH has also expanded its range of current awareness bulletins   that you can sign-up for and receive as email alerts.

New eJournals online for UHNS Athens Users

UHNS staff can now access: British Journal of Haematology Laryngoscope Pediatric Pulmonology online using your NHS Athens username and password. These titles are available via the Wiley Library Online database. To find our subscribed journal titles go to the NHS My Journals link from our journals page and login with your NHS Athens username.

Lancet is now online for NHS Athens Users

You can now access the Lancet journal online using your NHS Athens username and password. Access is provided via the Elsevier ScienceDirect database. To log in it is best to go to the NHS Journals link , login with NHS Athens, search for the Lancet, then click the Elsevier ScienceDirect link. The Lancet Link on the My Journals A-Z list Users may be required to login to ScienceDirect again by clicking the login link at the top right-hand side and following the Athens links. You can get help using RefWorks via their online help website, where step-by-step instructions are available, or check out their YouTube channel for video demonstrations. Links to these and more are available on our Refworks online support page. RefWorks is available to our Keele users.

Staff Publications Updated

The annual update of the Staff Publications RefWorks folders and spreadsheet has been applied to include research published during 2011. The folders also now point to the latest version of Refworks. You can browse through all the latest published research from staff based in our main organisations – Keele University, North Staffs Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, NHS North Staffs, NHS Stoke on Trent and University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

The ebook access problem for NHS Athens users has now been resolved. You can now access our ebooks from the Health Library catalogue by clicking on the NHS Users link. New Replacement NHS Library Cards

Are the first 4 digits of your library card barcode 5000 5080 5501 5502 5608? If so your card needs to be replaced, in readiness for the introduction of swipecard access during evening and weekend opening hours from Spring 2012. This will provide greater security for customers using the library at these times. Please visit the Health Library, before 24th February, at any time during opening hours with your existing library card in order to receive your new card.
