Want to find information quickly? Need to brush up on your literature searching skills? Why not  book yourself onto one of our training courses ? Health Library training courses are presented by qualified librarians, usually to small groups and offer you plenty of time for hands-on practice. Our courses include opportunities to: ·                   Get help finding the right information via the Internet ·                   Learn how to conduct a literature search and use our databases to get information quickly ·                   Find high-level good quality systematic reviews and evidence summaries using the Cochrane Library and similar resources ·                   Start to develop your critical appraisal skills ·                   Get to grips with Refworks Book yourself on a session by  getting in touch with our Training Team  or  book online . Ovid maintenance

Ovid will be carrying out maintenance of their services over the next few days: Thursday 24th August Saturday 26th August Monday 28th August This may impact on access to our Ovid resources for short periods, in particular: Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) database eJournals hosted by Ovid Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

With your library card you will be able to: Borrow items from the library (we have DVDs as well as books) Request Inter-Library Loans Request a Literature Search Book on a training course Access the Keele network via walk-in access Learn about what we do from our video Why don’t you come along and join. Complete our application form and bring it with your NHS ID to the library counter. For access to our online resources make sure that you register for an NHS Athens username .

Develop your information skills and learn how to complete a literature search – our Information Skills etutorials can help Our Information Skills etutorials are short, interactive tutorials that help you to develop the skills you need to find information effectively. Start with an Introduction to Literature Searching – complete the starter search plan for your project or assignment. Then go on and complete more etutorials to improve your search skills . You can learn: How to identify your question clearly Use the PICO tool Find information effectively Evaluate Information How to find critical appraisal tools You can complete and save our etutorial reflection document to keep a record for your eportfolio. IT Suite closed for maintenance

The IT suite next to the library will be closed for maintenance from Monday 14th August. Hopefully it will be available again before Friday 18th August. This is so that painting can be completed. The IT training room will be made available where possible to allow staff and students to access computers on the Keele network. Note, however: there will be NO access to the NHS network there will be NO self-service printing, please add your documents to a memory stick and then bring this to the counter where staff can print out for you Note that Keele students can use the IT facilities available at Campus. Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Most are very short; you can jump to the section you need and most include either step-by-step instructions or video demonstrations. World Breastfeeding Week 1st - 7th August 2017

Breastfeeding and breastfeeding awareness was first celebrated by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action in 1992; and in recent years has continued to be celebrated in more than 120 countries by the UNICEF, WHO and their participants such as individuals, associations and governments. The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action also worked hard to promote the comprehensive breastfeeding culture worldwide by providing the support deemed missing in order to raise the health benefits associated with breastfeeding for both the mother and infant. 2016 saw the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action begin their 15 year journey to achieve the sustainable development goals; which call for multi-sectorial collaboration between all services who come into contact with breastfeeding mothers and infants, in the hopes of one day demonstrating just how important breastfeeding is in tackling global problems such as hunger, inequality and poverty as it is argued by some that this natural act coul
